Coconut Pecan Frosting

A very sweet and caramel-like frosting with flaked coconut and pecans. It is best known for being on a german chocolate cake and it is very easy to make! Just let it cool completely so it becomes thick enough to spread over your cake.

Coconut Pecan Frosting

Cooking Time: 12 minutes


4 egg yolks

1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups sugar

3/4 cup butter

1 package (7 oz) flake coconut

1 1/2 cups chopped pecans


In a large saucepan, whisk together egg yolks, evaporated milk, and butter until blended. Add sugar and butter; cook on medium heat for 12 minutes or until thick and golden brown, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.

Stir in coconut and pecans. Cool and use to frost the german chocolate cake.
